About Us

Enosburg Veterinary Care

Established in 2019, Enosburg Veterinary Care is a small animal veterinary practice located in downtown Enosburg Falls, Vermont. Our team is passionate about animal care and client relationships, and we strive to provide quality medical care, a low stress environment, and preventative care strategies to keep our patients happy and healthy throughout their lifetimes.

We offer wellness appointments, general surgery and dentistry, and same day urgent care appointments when available. We are happy to help coordinate and support our clients when the situation requires a referral to a speciality or emergency practice.

History

In 1983 Dr. Heather Skilling established Donlon Veterinary Clinic on Water Tower Road in Enosburg Falls. Dr. Selina Hunter purchased the practice from Dr. Skilling in 1996, renamed it The Animal Doctor, and started a long-term lease of the building. Sarah Menard, certified veterinary technician, first started with the practice under Dr. Skilling and stayed on when the practice was purchased by Dr. Hunter. In 2003, Dr. Annie Wagner joined the practice as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Wagner left the practice in 2005, but returned in 2010. In 2019, Sarah and Dr. Annie decided to purchase The Animal Doctor business from Dr. Hunter and renamed the practice Enosburg Veterinary Care. They also purchased and renovated a historic building in downtown Enosburg Falls and moved the practice to its new location on Depot Street in November 2019.

Shirley

Office Administrator, Client Care Specialist/Receptionist

Shirley was born and raised in Danbury, CT and graduated from Danbury High. During and after high school she worked as a cashier at a grocery store, then assembling parts for a company that made parts for space rockets heading for the moon, and then later as their head receptionist/phone operator. Shirley then married and started a family. Shirley loved the challenges and fun times of being a mom of 3 boys, including being a Scout leader for a total of 12 years.

Shirley and her husband built a home in Brookfield, CT. She worked outside the home as an office manager for a sand and gravel business and as a sales manager for a computer peripheral designer and seller (including the Commodore and other well known computers of that time). Shirley and her family eventually moved to Richford, VT where she became a preschool teacher and administrator for a local non-profit school. After being widowed in 2001, Shirley closed the school to find more secure employment. Shirley’s final employment was with The Animal Doctor, which is now Enosburg Veterinary Care, where she hopes to remain until she retires in the near future. Throughout the years she has taken business courses at UCONN, early childhood courses at CCV, and she has attended numerous seminars and conventions in CT, MA, and VT.

Shirley has an unfulfilled dream to publish a book of poems she has written through the years and then venture into writing a book. However, for now she is happy working at EVC where she gets to see sweet, adorable, and amazing pets and their families, and where she gets to work with a group of amazing people who love what they do caring for pets.

Appointments

We offer wellness, non-wellness, and same day urgent care appointments (when available) to our patients. Please call us at (802)-933-4533 or click on the link below to schedule an appointment with us. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Once an appointment is made, you will receive an electronic message (email, text, or voice) to confirm your pet’s appointment a few days prior to the appointment date. Please do your best to confirm or cancel your appointment at that time–it helps our front staff immensely and allows us to open up an appointment slot to another animal in need of care if your pet no longer needs that appointment slot.

Request an Appointment

Missed appointment policy

We reserve specific appointment time slots and surgery dates for our patients. We understand that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment. However, we request 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your pet’s appointment. If you fail to give prior notice and miss an appointment, there will be a $50 fee. Missed appointment fees will need to be resolved prior to scheduling any future appointments.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. If you have special concerns about your payment, please discuss this with one of the receptionists prior to your appointment. Treatment plans are available upon request to help you prepare for your pet’s visit with us.

We accept a variety of payment options, including cash, check, credit cards, and Care Credit.

Care Credit

EVC is pleased to offer short term financing through CareCredit. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that allows your pet to get veterinary care when they need it. Subject to credit approval, CareCredit can offer 6 months deferred interest on purchases of $200 or more. You can apply prior to your scheduled appointment.

Pet Insurance

Pet insurance is available to your pet to assist with unexpected illnesses and injuries. A number of pet insurance companies are available and can provide varying degrees of coverage from accident and illness only, to annual wellness services. Please contact the insurance providers directly to receive an accurate quote and an outline of coverage. We work with all pet insurances but please keep in mind that payment will still be required at the time of service. Claim forms along with invoices and medical notes will need to be submitted to your pet insurance provider for reimbursement. We are happy to provide copies of the necessary documents for you to submit claim forms to your pet’s insurance provider.

Gypsy Fund

The Gypsy Fund was created in 2000. The fund is named after a
well-loved patient of The Animal Doctor, whose humans wanted to establish a fund in Gypsy’s name for pet owners that needed a small amount of financial assistance in order to provide veterinary care for their pet. If you would like to make a donation to our Gypsy Fund or for further information, please contact our office.
